The last few days have been quite wonderful, despite the pain in my broken toe. Thank you so much to all those of your who were kind enough to write and wish me well.
Working from home and giving it a rest on Friday was the perfect solution. I sat on my balcony from 6.30 a.m. (early to work means early to leave) till 2 p.m. The sun was shinning, the coffee was delectable and in the evening we went with S. to see Trevor Noah. I love taking my son to live performances; I adore the enthusiasm of his laughter, the spontaneous gusto of his clapping. The show was amazing, we never stopped laughing, even when I had to limp all the way to the bus stop.
While we were waiting for the bus I was balancing on one leg to give the injured one a much needed rest. Why it was so I didn’t quite understand, I had just been sitting down for two hours. Just as the bus rounded the corner, an email ticked in from one of my beta readers.
I had to read it twice, All the pain in my foot disappeared.
“So have done nothing else for the last 24 hours but read your book.
It is an awesome sequel to your first book. Loved every bit about it.”
I felt very humble. Very grateful. And happy and terrified at the same time.
Now I have to see what the second one says, and then make some decisions about where I go next. While I wait, it’s brownie bombs and lattés on the balcony.
